The Mississippi ESGR State Committee presented its highest employer honor to ROPE and nominated the company for the highest recognition the U.S. Government gives an employer of Guard and Reserve members.

ROPE Solutions has been named a Pro Patria Award recipient by the Mississippi State Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The committee also presented Russell Williamson with the Patriot Award and nominated ROPE for the Secretary of War Employer Support Freedom Award.

About ESGR

ESGR is a national Department of War program established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Guard and Reserve members and their civilian employers. It works through 54 state and territory committees, staffed by volunteers who brief employers on the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), help resolve conflicts that come up when an employee is called to serve, and recognize employers who go beyond what the law requires.

What the awards recognize

The Pro Patria Award is the highest honor an ESGR state committee can give an employer. Each year, every committee presents it to one small employer, one large employer, and one public sector employer in its state or territory. Recipients have shown the greatest support for Guard and Reserve employees through their leadership and practices, including personnel policies that make it easier to serve. Employers become eligible after signing a Statement of Support, having a supervisor recognized with a Patriot Award, and receiving the Above and Beyond Award.

The Patriot Award recognizes an individual supervisor for support provided directly to a Guard or Reserve member and their family. It is nominated by the service member, or the service member's spouse.

The Secretary of War Employer Support Freedom Award is the highest recognition the U.S. Government gives to employers for their support of employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve. Up to 15 are presented each year across small business, large business, and public sector categories, selected by a national board of senior officials and business leaders. Nominations come from a Guard or Reserve member employed by the organization, or from a family member.

What it means at ROPE

ROPE was built by people who served. From the start, the company has hired veterans as coaches and embedded them with crews in oil and gas and other high-consequence industries. Some of the team still serve in the Guard or Reserve.

During a recent production optimization campaign with a major oil operator, we assisted in a team going from "good to elite" by achieving an industry-leading 98% operability during a Rapidly Optimized coaching phase, while simultaneously driving potentially severe energy-isolation incidents from an average of 3.5 per month to zero.

By coaching supervisors in SOF style strategic planning and execution, strengthening communication across a geographically dispersed fleet, and tightening feedback loops from the executive level to the field, the team finally operationalized a critical modernization system that had stalled for two years, delivering true Performance Efficiency exactly as our name promises.

As one leader put it, "We followed ROPE's recommendations and our workers implemented Project X in the field which we have been trying to do for 2 years. I don't think we would have gotten there without ROPE." Another shared, "We started having an automation tech work in our Command Center, this was a direct recommendation that ROPE helped get from our workers... Everyone says this is the #1 improvement we've made".

The results speak for themselves: when culture, communication, and execution align, sustained operational excellence isn't just possible, it becomes inevitable.

One year ago, ROPE joined forces with a major oil and gas operator to tackle stagnant culture and reduce injuries on the rigs. The goal: a 15% drop in recordable injuries. The outcome: a staggering nearly 95% reduction on the rigs where ROPE actively coached, with first aid incidents dropping just as dramatically.

The takeaway is clear, strong safety starts with strong leadership, and investing in it transforms both culture and results.

Green Beret Foundation recently visited Occidental Petroleum's (Oxy) headquarters to commend the company for its commitment to a transformational culture change initiative. Oxy has partnered with ROPE Solutions, LLC to drive this change, a partnership that has resulted in the hiring of over 40 Special Operations veterans, 13 of whom are Green Beret veterans.

The Foundation emphasized the significance of providing elite veterans with a new mission and purpose beyond the battlefield, showcasing the value of these highly skilled individuals in new environments. The collaboration highlights Oxy's commitment not only to operational excellence but also to fostering an inclusive, purpose-driven culture.
