Hear it from the crews themselves.
What was our biggest problem child location is now the company top performer
As a rig mover, I have noticed a significant difference in the leadership at location that have ROPE. From company men to rig managers all the way down to the floorhands! The rigs that have brought in ROPE are far more efficient and overall better at delegating tasks and assignments to the hands.
ROPE has been the catalyst that has accelerated culture change.
At one point in time, there were four separate teams on this rig. We are watching in real-time, where two teams have become one and I'm confident they all will soon become one team. We are seeing drastic improvements in how teams are making relief with each other, and I have not heard of anyone complaining of their relief during this hitch. They truly are becoming a team, and it is apparent this flows across both tours.
Crews are observed increasing the engagement, and no obvious observations or evidence of complacency.
I've noticed a huge improvement in communication among the crew.
ROPE coaches have helped us drive ownership at a faster rate than we've ever seen.
The teams on [this rig] are evolving into a great family due to the leadership and true caring of ROPE
The best corporate leadership training we've seen in our 5-year program.
Pre-tour discussions are the most interesting part of my day.
It was a pleasure working with all the ROPE Team. Great group of leaders and mentors.
I've had a chance to get to know several of these extraordinary men and hear their stories. I am personally honored by their presence and enjoy soaking up the knowledge they have to give.
ROPE's team building exercise was the first time in 11 years I've seen operations guys cooperating and working together.
You can just tell when you show up to a ROPE rig
When you are on a ROPE rig you can just feel the difference
I could feel the difference between (Rig) and (ROPE Rig), I cant explain it but I could feel the ownership
I must say that this has been the most profound hitch I have experienced in my over 20-year career.
On behalf of the entire team, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for deploying the ROPE program and for sending exceptional individuals to work with us. Your commitment to our growth and well-being does not go unnoticed, and we are immensely grateful for the opportunity to learn from such distinguished professionals
I think ROPE has GREATLY added value and a different insight to the rig with their leadership skills.
The ROPE program has brought a lot of value, not just for me and my crew, but for the rig as a whole.
This man is made of the "Right Stuff" for sure and I've only had the honor of working with him for a short time, but we clicked from the start. There have been few people, who I've just come to know, who I knew I needed on my team, and Jon is one of those Individuals!
I believe the ROPE program has been very helpful not only myself or my crew, but the rig itself has benefited from the ROPE program.
Overall, this experience with ROPE has been extremely positive for me
As for myself, it has been unreal working with several of the ROPE coaches on this rig, as well as several others within the group
The ROPE program has added extreme value to our rig
The ROPE coaches have brought a ton of positive change on the Rig.
ROPE has affected our rig from a very positive standpoint.
The guys spoke up more and definitely communicated way better. It led to things falling into place and getting done without having to have supervisors present to ensure each small task was getting done. With all the small task getting done it allowed us as supervisors to focus more on the big picture and let us stand back and watch our guys run the show and step up as leaders.
Your coaching has made me more self-aware and has helped me take action on issues I have been struggling with for several years. I am finally taking steps to improve my health, I am reading leadership material that directly helps me lead the team out here, and I am improving my relationship at home.
For myself, I think ROPE has helped me identify some of my not so good qualities in the way I communicate or take criticism from others. I'm starting to think about my response rationally instead of taking it as a knock on myself.
I think the professional evaluation and implementing the standardization of our safety meetings, pre planning, and the debriefs have been a critical improvement on our rig.
There is more structure within each crew. With more conversations within a the job scope and regular de briefs have made crews understand and work better together on a day to day basis.
ROPE keeps the formalization in place and encourages good practices
I see how ROPE has improved operations by helping us understand job tasks being performed through pre-job planning and preparation for everyday activities. ROPE helps us think two or three steps ahead and then discuss in the afternoon what we could have done better and what went well.
There was no communication or guidance or morale or even purpose on this rig. ROPE gave us all avenues and guidance to communicate better with each other with true care and concern.
I had the attitude of not wanting to be here, didn't enjoy the environment that was on this rig. The utmost caring and devoted members of ROPE have changed that view.
ROPE has helped with morale and creating scenarios. As a team, we are striving towards the same goal and taking the same path.
This has boosted morale and created a shared mindset where everyone is working toward the same goal and following the same path.
The biggest problem we had was a toxic leadership environment - it was affecting morale and safety in my opinion. ROPE coaches helped us to see the toxic behaviors and a lot of that has been cut out.
I hope ROPE coaches don't leave because since they've been here, this has been a great place to work.
I feel the biggest difference is with the communication during shift changeovers and safety meetings. I see more people talking and getting involved!
The quiet ones are speaking up more, people are taking accountability for their actions, and there are a lot more questions being asked—not just by the new personnel, but also by those who have been here a while.
Assisting in standardization regardless of leadership at the rig even if it's something as little, albeit important, as the pre-tour
Have accelerated the progress of communication of the more introverted employees
ROPE has brought formalization and extra participation in the pre-tours, to include the one on one connection with the members.
ROPE has helped formalize our pre-tours, briefs and debriefs! We no longer wing it and participation by rig workers has increased considerably, everybody used to be quiet.
ROPE has provided empowerment to the rig members; they speak up now in the pre-tours and are more involved in discussions about operations.
I believe it has helped tremendously on the new hands speaking out with ideas
ROPE's contribution to the rig is greater participation in the pre-tours, greater understanding of the bigger picture, along with formalization utilizing the knee board.
I believe the ROPE program has had a positive impact on crew communication and interaction.
In the pre-tour and debriefs I noticed we all think a bit more about the jobs we are taking on other than the same old "pinch points" or "body placement" hazards. We are going more into specific details on what the hazards are during jobs.
The men are more engaged during pre-tower.
The engagement in pre-tower makes the crews look at one another with more respect, potential for future leadership and helps the drillers and I identify the crew members that are still in the gray about what it takes to be a high-performance.
We started seeing guys speak up and finding out that they were afraid to speak in public. If RTM are afraid to speak then there is no way they are going to interrupt a job and stop when needed
Since ROPE arrived have seen an increase in teamwork and better communications between the crews, especially doing change outs
The men have been a major support system in trying to get the rig as a team mindset and also giving advice helping those that are the leaders at the front.
They focus on team work and pride much more.
I have noticed rig hands working closer and communicating more effectively as a team
Can see an improvement in the team with communication and how most operations and attitudes tie into each other
Enhanced communication and teamwork
I believe since ROPE has been involved with our day to day operations I've seen better communication between co workers and more work as a team instead of individually doing a job on the rig.
The ROPE team has done an excellent job with the lessons and tools they have given us to be able to strive as a team
Since ROPE has become part of our daily operations, I've noticed improved communication among coworkers and a stronger sense of teamwork
We now approach the job as a team
We respect each other more and we work through issues as a team better.
I believe it's brought us together more as a crew
Rig has improved with working together as a team and actually getting to know and trust one another.
Debriefs have really helped our hands communicate, form action plans, review lessons learned and given an overall stronger team dynamic.
The overall team dynamic has changed significantly
Since ROPE has been on-site the crew has definitely engaged more in pre-tower and actually talk about real safety concerns. They also speak to each other differently.
ROPE has given the rig hands a sense of ownership and purpose. Many hands that were silent during initial meetings have now found their voice. It's been a neat process to watch their development. ROPE guidance has had major positive impact with our men.
I have seen a big difference in lower-level personnel taking leadership on. I see my men carrying themselves with pride and they are taking initiative.
Workers speak up in a professional manner and their situational awareness is at an all-time high, to include the use of SWA.
ROPE is helping to clear the way with their leadership insight.
Once ROPE got involved, the leadership—from me as a driller to the floor hands—improved substantially, and it's still getting better every day
I think that lessons that the guys have internalized will follow them in their career and help increase performance through their career
I have been taught many leadership skills from the ROPE team. And in my mind it has made me a better leader.
I have developed better leadership skills and working as a team has become second nature to us out here now.
The ROPE team taught me many valuable leadership skills, and I truly believe they've helped me become a better leader.
He has come a long way in the past few months - I can see the improvement in his leadership style and ROPE has helped us DSMs with this.
Hearing it from someone other than me - a coach who is an expert on leadership - this has helped him see that he needs to improve some of his leadership attitudes and discussions.
We agreed that the Driller's "old school" methods of yelling, cussing, criticizing his crew is not good leadership, but we could not agree on how to approach it. ROPE coaches have given us specific examples of topics we can mentor the Driller on
I have become a better mentor and person because of the ROPE process.
I cannot thank you and your team enough for the immeasurable amount of development and knowledge you bestowed across the future leaders of the Crimson Tide Battalion. We can't wait to have you all back for future endeavors! Safe travels, Roll Tide and Rangers (Will Always) Lead The Way!
ROPE's contribution to my rig, is its insight on good leadership principles, assertive leadership over aggressive leadership
ROPE has helped encourage me to see that I am in more in a leadership role that I realized.
ROPE has improved me in my leadership skills and helping my guys improve themselves and their leadership skills and their job.
I've attended a lot of leadership development workshops and training classes. Some of which were from famous and well-known organizations. However, this ROPE workshop was the best I have ever seen.
ROPE made me look back at how I treat my men and lead them. It helped me refocus my energy on being a good leader.
ROPE made a real impact on me and our team. The ROPE team brought a mindset that went beyond the oilfield they taught us how to slow down, think before reacting, and handle situations better both at work and at home. I won't say I've got it mastered yet but I definitely pause a lot more before opening my mouth now. That kind of perspective sticks with you, and it's something I'll carry forward every day!
I now look at my personal life differently and look to find ways to improve.
Excellent instructor engagement was exhibited. Top notch instructors.
ROPE has also provided the tools for people to succeed and to improve their life situations. Personally, I have someone to help me process my thoughts, to give me perspective and the tools to succeed professionally and in life.
Individually, there have been so many positive changes and growth professionally and personally.
ROPE is not only making better teams but helping build people for tomorrows future.
ROPE has personally swayed me to be bought-in more on the safety culture and being a better leader. I come to work every day wanting to lead my men. Teach them to be better than me and I want to evolve this culture.
What's up guys, it's Captain Keith Randazzo on the liftboat Myrtle for Montco Offshore, I hope all is going well! We have Russell Williamson on board with us, and it has been a real pleasure to have him come spend some time with us! He has done a hell of a job this past week with our crew! We all have enjoyed spending time with him, and he is always welcomed aboard the Myrtle. We learned a lot about ourselves and getting better as a crew and the leadership it takes to become a TEAM, which is what we are ultimately are striving towards! He has helped our crew grow closer and become better as individuals! I strongly believe we are a better crew because of his efforts and patience and time he has put in with us! Thank you for allowing Russell to come visit us. We all give him 2 thumbs up Kudos! Take care and be safe
[The ROPE Leadership Workshop...] was 10/10!
The collaboration our ROPE Coaches share with other team members is outstanding. Their positive attitudes and willingness to collaborate with the crews and 3rd party have greatly enhanced our team dynamics in just a few days. Example - Our crew members are more active and participating during our tour meeting and refocus meetings, they are not so shy to speak up now. The two ROPE coaches communicate and go over presentations during our pre-tour meetings… it's outstanding and honestly believe it's making an impact on our team; you guys are part of our team so on behalf of our team thank you. Keep up the GREAT WORK.
Because of the structured pre-tours, communication strategies, and debriefing techniques provided by ROPE, I am noticing the team is retaining information passed during the pre-tours. The team has reduced the amount of time taken to re-check and re-cover information during the rest of the tour because they are retaining the information better. Furthermore, we are seeing more involvement from our business partners during our meetings, and they are actively speaking up and contributing to the conversations more. It is evident that business partners are buying into the culture we have been trying to establish.
We are seeing some great benefits since integrating ROPE into our daily operation. ROPE as helped provide organization and structure in the way we share and receive information and execute our daily tasks. As we have progressed in this roll-out, our men are starting to see the benefits of proper planning, execution, and de-briefing during our daily tasks. Over the two weeks that I have observed ROPE, we have seen our team of rig hands, Directional Drilling personnel, and Mud and solids control begin to take ownership and pride in their daily objectives. We are seeing the team come together, build comradery, and develop trust within each other. We are seeing leaders emerge within our group. We are also seeing our men develop pride in what we are accomplishing. We are growing stronger as a team daily. I believe ROPE has been the catalysts for this change. Our ROPE coaches have become a valuable part of our team. We look forward to our continued partnership with ROPE and are excited to see our continued strengthening and growth.
Just wanted to let you know for what it's worth, l've had experiences with other coaching companies. ROPE guys are easier to talk to and are more people friendly. With those other guys it was just awkward… they made us feel like they were evaluating us to see if we were good enough to 'join' their ranks. With you guys, we don't feel like we are transitioning into military life. We feel like y'all are trying to show us what has worked in the military and help us learn from that and apply it in our civilian life. Thank y'all for your service, for trying to help us become better, and for teaching... have a great day!
Working with Russell and the team at ROPE Solutions has been an outstanding experience. They redefine what safety culture means in the oil and gas industry by emphasizing leadership, communication, and operational efficiency, values that extend far beyond the workplace and into everyday life. Their depth of knowledge and experience, combined with their ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, makes them invaluable leaders in our field. Challenging the status quo and reshaping how we think and work in this industry is no easy task, but the team at ROPE Solutions consistently rises to the occasion. Their commitment to sharing their expertise and elevating those around them is truly commendable. We're grateful for everything you do, thank you ROPE Solutions!
The training touched on a lot of topics of training we have received in the past, but this showed us how to execute at a high level.
By building a structure with the team and including them to speak in the safety meeting, we have been able to watch our team grow and mature as a team across the worksite. All the guys have stepped up with accountability and responsibility. They continue to enhance their communication and are changing their culture with the guidance of all of us. Never judge a book by its cover, their life experiences and our industry have more in common then we give people credit for.
We recently got back [Rig Employee] from being off on light duty. [Rig Employee] was the unfortunate floorhand who had his foot broken by the sub rack on the floor. His first day he attempted to push something out the V-door without gloves. His teammates immediately stepped in and stopped him. He put his gloves on and went back to work without incident. A few minutes later at the 4-hour debrief, he mentioned how that wasn't the case back when he was injured. He told us how the culture had changed in the few months he had been off in a good way. This really drove it home - not just with the crew but with myself as well. Sometimes we can't see what we have accomplished with our nose against the mirror. We have to step back and look from afar.
Art our ROPE coach has been more than we could have hoped for. While calling out a floorhand in safety meeting to read we noticed he froze. After further conversation he opened up and said he couldn't talk or read in front of people. So we told him we were going to call on him again. We found ways to make it easier like giving him the context the day before so he could practice. Art even drove to book store on time off to get him a book of his interest to help conquer this fear. This is above and beyond what he was asked to do. Not only will this change culture but change this guys life! If he can't read in front of us there is no way he is gonna stop the job when something wrong.
This was the most engaging workshop I've ever attended.
Debriefs! I have been trying for years to get crews to do debriefs after their tours and after jobs - like the opposite side of JSAs. But no one has really taken it on. ROPE has brought structured Debriefs that get the whole team together and everyone speaks up. This is hugely important in preventing learning the same lessons over and over again. Debriefs make the job more safe and efficient - it is the single most important improvement tool I've seen in my career in the oilfield. That is the one thing I asked ROPE coaches to help with and I am so thankful that it is implemented.
I like myself better.
Great workshop overall, ... [the instructors kept] us engaged during [their presentations] and activities.
The Rope crew help me navigate issues with my work team and myself. The knowledge and tools they gave me are helpful to work on a high performance team and struggles at I have outside of work. I have a much better understanding of people not just at work but on day to day basis. #ropeteam#IQEQ
I want more of this training.
Your presence (ROPE Coaches) brings a positive dynamic to the field, which instills a tremendous sense of wanting to improve, ourselves and our teams.
Progress has been huge as a direct result of legitimate coaching by ROPE. Job well done. Thank you.
What ya'll are coaching and teaching brings great value to our people in the field. Communication has improved 10-fold since you've been here.
I believe in everything ROPE is doing here. Your teamwork, leadership and communication curriculum has been invaluable. It is now up to us to put everything we've learned into practice.
We never conducted debriefs or discussed lessons learned in the past. ROPE has taught us to constantly strive for excellence and continuous improvement. We are now understanding the importance of conducting debriefs and recording lessons learned.
The performance excellence curriculum delivered by ROPE coaches has made a significant impression on many of our teammates. Self-improvement and accountability are now themes heard out in the field.
Everyone with ROPE was just really awesome and very impactful. It honestly made a big impact on me, at work and at home. It taught me how to not react to everything right away and to handle situations with a better mindset. That's something I'll carry with me every day. The conversations I had with you were always impactful. You have a way of getting me and everyone to think different and see things from another perspective. I'm grateful for the time we had working with you all.
We appreciate everything you guys have done and opened our eyes too in your time here. I've learned a lot and will continue to better myself.
Personally, I take away the fact that we consciously have to apply these concepts to assure we stay engaged to ultimately create the culture that promotes teamwork that is inclusive to all of our members so they understand what is expected of them and that they are all important and needed to be most effective.
the biggest impact for me was understanding the importance of emotional intelligence in the field, staying calm, communicating clearly, understanding human factors, and making fact based decisions. You guys also reinforced the value of visible leadership, mutual support, discipline, and the mindset that "calm breeds calm"
Thank you for the opportunity to attend the ROPE training session. The program was exceptionally well prepared, and the instructors delivered the material with clarity and professionalism. I am confident that the knowledge gained will have a meaningful and positive impact when implemented within our...department. I strongly recommend this training to others.
Out of my 9 years at this company I rarely have done this. Usually, I tell my manager the training went good, the usual writing on sticky notes and putting on the wall or some things that's grappling at straws trying to apply it to our daily work life. This training on the other hand...was f****** awesome. So many touch points, engagement from everyone in the room, and some legit goals that we can put into effect for ourselves and the company. Thanks for putting me in Sir!
Overall, I learned a bunch. First leadership training I've been a part of here and was very glad to finally get something.
We need more training like this.
[The ROPE workshop...] was awesome!
Because of ROPE, communication has improved in the field. Middle and upper management has shown their interest in promoting inclusion and this has improved engagement
You guys are great! ...The first training class that has not made me bored or sleepy!
I appreciate you and the ROPE team for being professional and mostly surfacing the broad talent that we have in operations parallel to that surfacing the communication styles we use and how we can work to improving ourselves as leaders to drive common goals, initiatives and performance of each of our PT's. I found that we have a solid foundation and with continuing the process of debrief and BUILD we can make sound decisions as a group.
...it was the best class I've had!
Really good way to present and get you to absorb and understand every topic presented.
[The ROPE instructors and the workshop] was on point! Never had this type of training before and was very helpful.
I think this training was well thought and very well put together for a large group to digest the information presented. The presenters were very engaging and knowledgeable. It was probably the most effective workshops for leader I have ever attended. 5 stars!
I loved [the ROPE Leadership Workshop], one of the best, if not, the best class, I've ever attended!
[The Workshop] was extremely impactful!
Very good training course (ROPE Leadership Workshop). The best I have attended. Participation and team challenges made all the difference from other classes.
I enjoy getting to learn leadership skills to practice on my team. ROPE coaching is definitely value-added with more suggestions and styles.
I believe with the ROPE program we are starting to see improvements in all aspects of our business
I feel that everything is changing for the better because of ROPE.
Since ROPE arrived I have seen leadership working on taking a more proactive approach in the field. I also feel like leadership is learning strengths and weaknesses and are trying to grow. Most everyone, I feel, is buying into what ROPE is trying to accomplish.
Really positive outlook of what ROPE is implementing
I enjoy seeing management become more transparent since ROPE arrived
Best training I've ever experienced.
We continue to move forward with the 'Team Concept' ROPE has coached, we are working together to accomplish the mission.
We have always had our meetings and planning, but you guys took what we were already doing and put it on steroids. There was an incident after you guys left and with what we learned, we chose to be proactive instead of reactive and implemented our own internal meeting with all hands present.
There's nobody that can build a floor-hand into a leader like ROPE
My ROPE coach taught me not only to be a better team mate, but a better member of my family.
This is a learning experience for all of us. We will take your knowledge in and act accordingly. We've always took the easy way out by getting to bottom of what happened then chewed ass and punishment. We always wanted to do the right thing but didn't know how. This is exactly what we needed to open our eyes.
This is the kind of help that we need.
I've been through a lot of leadership workshops - with Franklin Covey and others, this is the best I've seen with getting the audience involved and entertaining!
The ROPE team's leadership and team-building presence on Rig 415 had a significant and positive impact on the crews.
It was nice to have guys with real life experience come in and teach us about mental health awareness. We have had other companies come into the shop in the past that were college educated but had no life experience and it did not have nearly the same effect on our guys. We are excited the ROPE coaches are out here daily. We enjoy hearing about their relatable experiences and how they are working through it today.
Their use of real-world experiences and practical examples made the material both relatable and impactful
After hearing the mental health portion of the work shops I immediately wanted to come back the next day and share it with the crew" they talked about it for about 10-15 mins that morning and really opened them up to talking about the job and how it affects all them.
ROPE coached us on the importance of visible leadership – we engaged every single worker in the field and surveyed them for their preferences regarding new positions – we are taking their feedback as we move forward with operational excellence improvements.
ROPE has been the catalyst that has accelerated culture change – we relied on them to help us implement a "must-do" innovation that is the key to our operation's future.
We improved our implementation of recent operational innovations using ROPE's coaching…we have seen an improvement in buy-in and ownership compared to previous roll-outs.
My front-line leaders and I greatly improved our communication with our team in field by implementing ROPE's coaching. We showed that our workers have an input in our plans, their perspectives matter, and we all understand the 'Why' behind our priorities.
There really weren't any boring moments.
ROPE has done an excellent job coaching me and my management team.
I sincerely appreciate the mentorship, skill development, and culture-building your leaders and coaches have provided
I have been through several company training sessions and this was the best we've had.
